Channel ONE (PC /MAC)

This product is FREE  for the DADEV Premium members. Click here for more info

The Channel one, is a very powerful tool for live instruments or vocals. Very light on DSP, it is a studio recording must for musicians who want to have the best result right under their fingers. With the Channel One you don't need to use a post maximization process, and you don't have to care about noises, unwanted signal distortion. It is a compressor, gate, deesser, filter and equalizer that will save your time when recording and will maximize your recording quality with no braining. Optimized to fit most recording needs, we want it very simple with an immediate result. The "Special " section adds some unique and original features, and more presence and compensate bad recording conditions.

Filters Section

The EQ is designed with controls tailored specifically to give immediate results to live or pre-recorded vocals with : 18db/oct non resonant filters (HighPass and LowPass)

These 2 filters are "full-band" (from 20Hz to 20kHz) to make them usable on any sound source. They removes ambient noise and headphone bleed.

The High Pass filter can lower any "rumble" noise and any close feeling when recording the voice. The LowPass filter can remove any background noise without changing too much the original sound.

Deesser Section

Removes undesirable sibilance leaving the rest of the vocal sound unscathed. The button adjusts the Deesser threshold.

Gate section

The Gate is optimized to gives a natural and clear sound. It does not limit the sound too much so it can be used like an Expander, for a better result on voices and instruments.

Adds brightening harmonics to a vocal which lacks character. The Gate Button sets the Threshold when the gate will start.

Compressor Section

For easy-to-set-up dynamic control of performance changes,  giving more punch and fat sounding compression, especially when driven hard. Two modes of operation offer soft (vocals) or hard (drums or electric guitars) compression.

Compressor adds more density gives a better control on the instrument dynamic at the recording stage. It can avoid saturation and will optimize your recording.  A switch swap the compressor in Soft or Hard mode.

The "Soft" mode is adapted to the voices, when the "Hard" one is more for Drums and Electric Guitars.

The compressor has been optimized to give more density in order to have something similar to an opto-compression circuit. It is particularly adapted to the voice recording.

The Channel can redirect the EQ to the Compressor analysis circuit, in order to do a selective compression. For example if you want to use it on a Drum track, you can redirect the EQ to the Sidechain with a bass frequencies attenuation in order to have a richer and more powerful sound, because the compressor will be less sensible to the lower spectrum dynamics.

EQ Section

The EQ section is designed for vocal recording, in order to better control the vocal presence and better integrate the vocal track within the mix.

The "Lo" band will add more warm to the sound or will remove some bass from the recording.

The Freq level is fixed at 200hz and the EQ is a Shelving type of filter, to give a smoother result.

The "Mid" band is used to sculpt the sound because you can set the Frequency and the Gain level. The Freq range is from 150HZ to 16 kHz. Depending on how you set the "Mid" band you will enhance or hide the voice presence from the mix.

The "Q" switch controls the EQ type. The "Q" option is a little bit experimental, it can gives very original results, but be careful, the result will not sound natural at all! Experiment!

The "Hi" band is set at 8kHz, so you can add more breath if you need.

Special Section

The "Phase Inv." button will invert the signal phase. This is very useful when you have several microphones, and when they are not pointing all in the same direction.

The "Nannance" button will add more harmonics to a source with a lack of character. The result is more bright, more precise.

The "SoftKiclip" button, will redirect the sound to a dynamic circuit to add more punch to the sound. This can also optimize the Output level. In that case this button will act as if it was a limiter.

"Comp" will monitor the signal sent to the compressor sidechain.

"Deess" will monitor the signal part out from the deesser.

Insert feature

You can add an insert to the Channel One, in order to transform your device to a reverb+Channel effect, or a Vtube + Channel effect to change the signal color.

Output Section

You can add up to 24db to the output using the Volume button.
