GOLD (MAC/PC) This product is FREE for the DADEV Premium members. Click here for more info
This version is very much enhanced compares with the V2. Here are the changes :
What is the Verb Gold? The GoldVerb is a set of 2 devices : the GoldVerb and the GoldVerb Lite. The GoldVerb Lite is a subset of the original GoldVerb more limited but very light on DSP (less than 1 DSP) and PCI usage. It is perfect for project when a lot of process is needed. The GoldVerb is an amazing reverb dedicated to the professional and to the Studio. It is our most advanced device. Its particularity is to have a very large and dense sound with no metallic bad harmonics, it has a wide range of reverberation type like tube or plastic reverbs with an access to all their parameters. Technically, this device uses several proprietary system to spread the sound encapsulated in a Feedback Delay Network. Despite its complexity, GoldVerb is still very simple to use, even without any documentation. It is also a state of the art graphical design made by a very known graphic artist in the Video-Game Industry...
List of Features : User Manual : Main Panel TIME : The length of the reverb. If you turn the button to the max you'll have an infinite reverb and possibly some weird feedback effects depending on the preset you are choosing. DAMP : the damping time. This button damps the highest frequencies. If you turn the Damp to 0 you'll remove all the highest frequencies. If you turn it to the max, you'll leave them and it will produce a whashhhhhhh sound. In between you device the time it will take to them to decrease. PREDELAY : use this button to delay the start of the reverb. IF you are in a large room, and if you are close to the instrument, you'll have a delay between the original sound and the time the reverb swill start. It is also a good way to play with drums. SPACE : this button activate the Space Binaural simulator without having to open it. When you turn this button to the left or to the right you will have a 180° rotation of the sound (in stereo) from the left ear to the right ear. This is a rare option in the reverb devices, but very useful to enhance the stereo. IF you want to disable it just double click to set it at 0. MIX : this very easy button mix the Dry sound with the Wet sound. You can't make it more simple. In : this button adds or remove up to 24db to the in. Be careful to not add too much to avoid any internal distortion. Out : do the same job but at the end of the process. Main Panel PRESETS : this is the Global Presets option. These presets will save all the parameters in use including the ones from the compressor or the Binaural Space Simulator. BYPASS : will bypass the reverb. User Manual : Input Compressor When you open the Input compressor you turn it on automatically (check the Option panel). The compressor works like any basic compressor. Use the compressor to maximize the Reverb feedback. If you use the Reverb as an insert, the reverb will have more density with the compressor. Be careful when you use it in direct mode, as compression can change dramatically the original signal, specifically on natural instruments. Threshold (-96db..0db): use this button to define the threshold level, if the threshold is close to 0db, the compressor will compress all the time, if not it will start to compress at the selected level. Ratio : this button define the compression strength. 1.6:1 means compress the signal at 1/6 of its original strength. Attack : define the attack time. a Slow attack time will result a smooth compression , non intrusive. A fast attack time will do a strong compression, more noticeable.. Release : this is the Attack Friend, if the sound decline and the compressor should stop working, this button will delay its deactivation. This is particularly interesting specially when you want to have a very smooth compression. Look-ahead : this feature can help the compressor to anticipate its activation (up to 100mn). This can be useful to avoid the pumping effect on drums for example, of you have several loud sounds, the compressor will anticipate its next compression state. User Manual : Binaural Space Simulator. This tool is mainly the internal tweaks of the reverb. Also you have a graphical vision of the walls and the position of the listener and you can make it turn his head right and left with a 180° sound image. Also you can set the Spread engine's internal parameters. Walls : the walls positions are setting the room parameters. If you place the walls close the listener, you create a small room. Far from him, a large room. You can load presets of the rooms with the PRESET button. Size : Tune : this button define the general size of the room. The basic Rooms parameters are defined by the Walls positions, however you can change all the walls positions, by changing the Tune and Fine Tune Button. The Tune button will divide all the Walls distance. The fine tune will add up to 4000 samples of delay. By using these buttons you can consider the presets and the wall positions as a basic room configuration, and move from a large room to a small room in real time by moving these 2 buttons! Gain : this button is the main button that control the rest of the upper button in the Space Simulator. It is controlling the general feedback of the FDN (feedback delay network). If you have Larsen trouble or if you think that there is a kind of resonance in the reverb, that means that the FDN is too loud. Del 1 & Del 2: these two buttons are working together to create multitap delays within the reverb. Del 1 is the left delay, Del 2 is the right one. If you want to simultaneous delays on the left and right set them at the same value. If you do not, you will have a multitap effect. Be careful with the delay. If you set the DEL too long when the reverb is short, the reverb will stop before the delays... it can be fun, but not natural at all! When you are in a room, you have delays, and these must be mixed with the reverb to re-create a natural environment. Phase : this button turn on and off the phase effect and set the phase level. Some reverb (Pc, and Lex) have a phase effect to simulate a kind of Doppler sound. It is not really natural but it seems to be useful. I've re-created this effect to be "in phase" with the competition (no joke), and because it sounds nice on the Drums. Rate : define the rate of the phase effect. Also this button controls the "rotary" effect (left-> right bounce"). Use it carefully, it is really fun but can be very strange. Depth : set the depth of the phase effect and the depth of the bounce effect as well. If you set too much depth your piano will sound honky tonk! Early : this button sets the Early reflexions level. The Early Reflexions are the first feedback from the closest objects. Usually they are adding more punch at the beginning. Filter : this filter adds a tube like sound to the reverb. Stereo Phasing : this is the Spread engine controller. More you add Stereo Phasing, more you separate the spread frequencies. If you add too much spread, you get a very smooth sound but also if can de-tune your sound... no very useful on pianos! Generally set it at the middle for instruments and at the max for percussions. VTube Saturation : if you are using the reverb to masterize your mix, you'll appreciate the Vtube warm. User Manual : Option panel Insert : this button will turn on and off the DRY signal. It is particularly useful when you use the reverb in Insert, and you want to set the mix between the dry and Wet signal from the mixing console. Compressor : will turn on/Off the compressor (and open /close the Compression panel. Drum FX : the Drum FX button is another exclusivity from DSPDEV. This button will adds a LOT of harmonics to the reverbered signal. It is GREAT of Drums! But it must not be used on instruments and voice. Color : the Color button will turn on and off the Reverberation Color Panel.
